Sports – Arshavin close to Arsenal move-

Russias Euro 2008 star, Andrey Arshavin, may be joining Arsenal this month. In an interview with Britain’s Sky Sports Channel, a Zenit St Petersburg representatives said the club were positive about reaching a deal with the English Premiership side.

At the weekend Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, decsribed Arshavin as a high class player and admitted that Arsenal were in discussion with Zenit.

The London side is in desperate need of a high class midfielder after Spaniard Cesc Fabregas received a serious injury.

The only obstacle to the move is Arshavins high transfer price. Zenit wants ₤ 20 million for the player, while Arsenal are ready to pay only ₤ 12 millino.

Other clubs linked with Arshavin include Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and a trio of Italian giants, AC Milan, Inter and Juventus.
